Re: Coalfield Progress 2008 Football Preview
Ummm... I'd say the big change started about seven or eight years ago when the level of competition in the LPD started declining.

Huh? I'm saying that with Clintwood beating Burton in the playoffs, looked the way most of the past two decades did between the two. JIB beat Clintwood by 4 in 00, other than that and their recent run, they hadn't beat Clintwood since maybe the late 80's. I can't remember if they won one when Sam Daniels was there or not, Counts would know.
Re: Coalfield Progress 2008 Football Preview
My comment was that times have changed.
In the 90's, there were basically 2-3 teams that dominated the LPD and Region D, and neither Clintwood or Norton was one of them. In the last few years, Norton has dominated. Clintwood is peaking now. Who knows which team will be "the team" next?
In the 90's, PV and Appalachia were winning state championships.
Yes, times have changed.

Re: Coalfield Progress 2008 Football Preview
I just can't see how they wouldn't let him play, considering the situation. PV didn't want him, because he "broke team rules"....so he moves to DB where he is eligible to play. Though because the coach and Phil are old buddies, he gets certain info on the kid. He decides he doesn't want to "deal" with it. So he says you can't play here. Its a messed up situation, but you have to let this kid play somewhere. Especially at a school where someone is willing to give him a chance. It might pay off for them, or blow up in their face..but if they are willing to give him a shot then I can't see how they can deny him.
Re: Coalfield Progress 2008 Football Preview
I got that. I just didn't understand the relevance from your first post on.

The only way he could be able to play is: He would have to move there, if not he would have to sit out for a semester.

Well thats what I was getting at, but I didn't know the whole story at the time. So I'm all for giving the kid a shot with JIB.

I think kids deserve a 2nd chance. I just hope he does not blow it.
Re: Coalfield Progress 2008 Football Preview
I'm all for giving a kid a second chance, but at least from what rumors are, he's had a second chance. That being said, give the kid another chance, but let him focus on LIFE not football or any other sports. I know on here we tend to look at sports first but nobody is saying not to let him get a new start, new school but as best I recall it being stated before, kids have a right to an education, but athletics, clubs, etc are a privilege.
